Amentum is seeking an advanced level industrial Instrumentation & Control Technician to join our Team.

This Technician will work at our client installations and will monitor and maintain Instrumentation & Control systems to ensure zero failures by providing an advanced level of expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing all aspects of the building automation systems in a large-scale multi-purpose complex. The I&C Technician must have the ability to maintain, improve, and participate in troubleshooting the associated equipment serving the spaces monitored. The I&C Technician must have a unique skill that combines computer-based programming, electrical controls, and steam/condensate knowledge to understand a buildings sequence of operations. This knowledge enables visibility and control to a pre-determined computerized program that balances air handlers, exhaust fans, and chilled water systems for personal comfort in office space or in a variable temperature and humidity conditional research space.

The I&C Tech will be part of a 24/7 team that monitors all aspects of a building’s temperature, humidity, and pressure, and is capable to calibrate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of electronic/pneumatic control devices throughout the sites HVAC, OFA, EXHAUST, PCW, CHW, CW systems using Allen Bradley, ABB and Rockwel Automation software/programs.

This position will collaborate with more advanced specialized technicians or subcontractors to perform facility related repairs. Effectively communicates with the site management, control room operators, Amentum technicians/mechanics, team, and the customer to understand requirements and solve complex monitoring and control problems. The I&C Technician must have the ability to identify and correct any safety related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. The technician will help ensure the operational success of the sites by preparing and making the environment and making informed decisions.

Essential Functions : Check and ensure the operation of BMS, PME (Power Monitoring Eng) and LSS (Life Safety Systems) systems. Take appropriate action in case of any anomaly or critical alarm. Personal leadership : inspire confidence, adapt and learn. In case of any supplier related issues, coordinates and resolves problems and stabilizes them. Check and ensure key assets and systems are operating within safety range on a routine basis. Responsible for the maintenance of I&C equipment to ensure proper daily operation. Check operational readiness of all I&C equipment through daily rounds and notify the coordinator and appropriate vendors if any equipment cannot be controlled or operated. Check and ensure that all essential parameters are properly displayed on the BMS/PME systems. Responsible for executing work assigned by the coordinator using the digital documentation tool. Responsible for attending to the daily operational needs of the I&C teams. Under general supervision, performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required. Operates various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions. Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work. Maintains a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment. Flexible in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer. Other duties as assigned by coordinator and supervisor.

Minimum Requirements : Associate degree in Electronics/Electrical or Instrument Controls Technology or work demonstrable experience. 2 years of experience as a BMS technician, a controls environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of technical engineering systems. Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules. The ability to understand English diagrams/manuals.
